About This Tour
Kigali defies every stereotype about African cities: spotless streets, car-free zones planted with jacaranda, and a creative energy that hums through converted warehouses and rooftop bars. This 2-day city tour begins at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where a moving exhibition honours the victims of 1994 and charts the nation's path toward reconciliation. From there you visit Inema Arts Center, where young Rwandan painters and sculptors translate their heritage into contemporary work, and the Caplaki craft market for handwoven Agaseke baskets. An afternoon coffee-cupping session at Question Coffee introduces you to Rwanda's award-winning single-origin beans, roasted and brewed by women from cooperatives across the country. Evening brings dinner at one of Kigali's acclaimed restaurants — think grilled tilapia with plantain and a passion-fruit vinaigrette — with views over the city's thousand hills glittering at nightfall. Ideal as a stand-alone visit or a cultural bookend to a wildlife safari.
