A gorilla permit is an official document granting permission to trek mountain gorillas in national parks. Permits are required for conservation purposes - they limit the number of daily visitors to each gorilla family to minimize stress and disease transmission. Permits cost $700 for foreign non-residents in Uganda (Bwindi/Mgahinga) and $1,500 in Rwanda (Volcanoes National Park). This fee directly supports gorilla conservation and park management.
