Every year, roughly two million wildebeest, 500,000 zebra, and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle trace a clockwise loop through the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem — the largest overland migration on Earth. This 10-day expedition is timed to intercept the herd at its most dramatic: river crossings where thousands of animals plunge into crocodile-patrolled waters in a frenzy of dust, spray, and survival. Between crossings, game drives across the Serengeti's southern plains reveal cheetah sprints, lion prides lazing on kopjes, and leopards draped over sausage-tree branches. The route continues north into Kenya's Masai Mara, where open grasslands offer some of Africa's best photographic conditions — low horizons, golden light, and predators in full hunting mode.
